Human Simulation Educator

The Human Simulation (HS) Educator participates in a wide array of activities associated with the HS Lab. They coordinate the logistical design of the event, working in collaboration with course directors to create or improve assessment and testing materials used in testing encounters. Train and educate Simulated Patients (SPs) for specific cases according to curricular requirements and standards of best practice. Ensure consistent training of SPs, monitor SP performances by completing quality assurance, provide appropriate and constructive feedback and coaching. Leads, coordinates, manages, and contributes to testing events, practicums, and other types of events taking place in the department. Provides support to the HS Lab Manager by assisting in recruiting, screening, and interviewing potential SPs. |

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Research, the incumbent manages the full lifecycle of grants, and sponsored program administration including identification of funding sources, grant and contract proposal assistance, grant writing assistance, development and review, proposal submission, grant and contract negotiation, sub-award issuance, and post-award administration (both financial and non-financial) related to funding provided in the form of gifts, grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts from external funding sources (e.g., federal agencies, state agencies, private companies, or foundations) that provide support for research, teaching, and learning, and service mission of the university. Keeping faculty and appropriate staff apprised of the status of grants, current contract or grant policies, regulations, and guidelines made by granting agencies and campus offices; acting as the liaison between principal investigators (PIs) and granting agencies, University offices, etc.; and meeting with faculty and staff to identify research interests and to develop funding strategies and plans. In collaboration with research leadership, supports identified goals for future organizational performance implements assigned tasks, and uses resources needed to attain them, ensuring compliance with university and sponsor guidelines. The position supports the Executive Director of Research in the management of grant programs and partnerships. The responsibilities of the Grants Specialist and Partnership manager may change based on revisions to the research vision and research direction of the University. |

Athletic Trainers are healthcare providers who specialize in providing primary care, injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, along with rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Athletic Trainers will provide onsite coverage at the MidAmerican Rec Plex or at other affiliate locations as needed for a wide variety of sports. Athletic Trainers will assist with leading, supervising, and instructing performance classes, clinics, and camps. In addition, athletic trainers will provide education to athletes, families, coaches, DMU students, and the community on injury prevention, sports rehabilitations, and performance enhancement while providing exceptional customer service. |

Under the direction of the Clinic Executive Director, this position is responsible for the supervision and management, including financial management, of all facets of the University Wellness Program including leadership of the Wellness Department, and operational oversight of the Wellness Centers. The Wellness Director is responsible for creating and managing a comprehensive wellness program that supports the physical, mental, and emotional health of university stakeholders including students, employees, plus ones, and retirees. The Director will develop and implement strategies to promote employee wellbeing, including activities such as health screenings, fitness and nutrition classes, health coaching, and emotional wellness training. The Director will also engage with community partners to extend wellness services, identify opportunities for program growth and promotion of the DMU brand. |

Director Regional Simulation Center

The Director of the Regional Simulation Center will ensure high quality simulation-based education through the creation of a realistic state-of-the art learning environment. The role will utilize best practices and evaluation data to identify opportunities for innovation, implementation, and integration of patient simulation technology into stakeholders’ curricula. The Director will employ a proactive approach to engage stakeholders in collaborative partnerships. The Director will coach, develop, mentor, and evaluate the Regional Simulation Center personnel, while promoting a collaborative and team-based approach to simulation education. The Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Regional Simulation Center staff, budget, preparation, maintenance, inventory and operation of all simulation areas, equipment/supplies, and collaborates with stakeholders to plan, implement, and schedule simulation activities. The Director assists with the development and ensures adherence to program policies, program outcomes, data collection and reporting, and current simulation best practice safety measures. The Director will contribute to local and national research projects. |

The Director will design and implement various programs, oversee the daily operations, compliance, and finances, and ensure the quality and sustainability of the research activities that align with DMU's mission. The Director will supervise and mentor staff members, foster a positive, inclusive, impactful culture, and collaborate with the DMU's diverse research community. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Research and working closely with other staff, the Director of Operations, Compliance, and Strategy will support the Faculty Leadership team, serving as Research Operations leader and compliance officer for all the daily operations and programs. |

In a clinical-like setting (in-person or online), portrays cases similar to what learners would encounter in actual clinical settings. Simulated patients are expected to consistently and accurately portray trained cases including typical emotions, behaviors and symptoms. Responsible for memorizing a script and recalling actions performed by learners to document performance and skill level of each learner consistently and accurately. Case portrayals may include communication, physical examination or both. Simulated patients may also provide feedback and/or assess learners using specific measurement tools. Participation in group or individual training is expected in order to prepare for case portrayal. Work hours are variable and on an on-call basis. |
